As you know if you follow me on social media, I got to take a trip with my little Sofia to Washington State a couple weeks ago to visit my sister, her husband, and their new baby!
I SO SO SO enjoyed my time there.
This trip was a big deal for me because it was my first time ever to be away from Caleb for more than just a night. He did just fine but I missed him!! It was also my first time ever to spend so much one-on-one time with Sofia and it was super special for me.
Getting to go to Washington was such a blessing from the Lord and was totally put together by Him. I hadn’t seriously considered making the trip for several reasons, one of which was the cost. But a kind friend (who asked to be anonymous) surprised us by very generously offering to pay for my flight!
I also felt hesitant to leave Caleb for a whole week, but Pablo encouraged me to go and my family was happy to help (I’m so thankful for them!) Between my parents and sisters they took fabulous care of Caleb while Pablo was working. A kind family friend also helped with Caleb for a morning.
Our flights to Washington were BOTH delayed. For the first flight we were delayed in the airport for two hours; that was okay, Sofia and I just walked around and tried to burn some of her energy. For the second flight we sat on the plane for an hour and a half before takeoff for our 3+ hour flight. Not a huge deal when you’re traveling alone, but a lot bigger of a deal when you’re trying to keep an active 16 month old happy haha.
Overall though Sofia did AMAZING and I was so thankful that she slept some for both of the flights. When we arrived at the little Tri-Cities airport in Washington we found out my suitcase hadn’t arrived with us, but we were just glad to finally be there (and the suitcase found it’s way to us the next day.)
I was so happy to see my sister Hannah again. She and her husband Jonathan are the cutest couple! <3 And of course Sofia and I were thrilled to meet my new little niece Cara Elizabeth. It was so much fun to see how much Sofia loved her. (She would said “Heyyy baby!” over and over. So cute!)
The day after we arrived we drove four hours up (or over?) to Seattle for Cara’s doctor appointment (she’s seeing a specialist for her cleft). It was fun seeing some beautiful scenery on our drive up, even though Mount Rainier was hidden due to the weather. While we were in Seattle Hannah and Jonathan bought a new car! It was fun to be in on that excitement.
Over all we didn’t do much sight seeing during my visit – there’s only so much you can do with two little ones – but we had tons of fun just hanging out together!
Hannah and I have always been close; after all, I’ve known her for all but the first eighteen months of my life! We had so much fun just enjoying our babies together, talking, laughing, eating chocolate, and watching a girly show some of the evenings. (Victoria on Amazon Prime, in case you’re curious.)
Anyway . . . so basically I had an awesome time. 🙂
And now for some pictures . . .
