It’s been a few weeks since I’ve shared a new recipe here on the blog but I have a great one for you today! Beef stroganoff sandwiches make a simple, delicious meal and are easy to throw together when you don’t have much time. This recipe is a favorite from when I was growing up and I know you’ll love it too.
I’m sharing the most basic way to make these open faced sandwiches, but you can personalize them to your taste by adding mushrooms to the meat mixture, sprinkling chopped green peppers and tomatoes on the top, or whatever else strikes your fancy!
Feel free to experiment with what kind of cheese you use as well. For the sandwiches I made today (pictured in this post) I used a “Mexican” blend because that’s what I had on hand, but sharp cheddar is fantastic as well.
Also – side note – I cut a small amount off the end of my French bread to save for making myself some French toast haha but otherwise I would’ve used the entire loaf for this recipe.
Here’s the recipe for these amazing beef stroganoff sandwiches! 🙂
Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/4 c. chopped onion
- 1 t. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 t. salt
- 1/4 t. garlic powder
- 1/4 t. pepper
- 1 c. sour cream
- 1 loaf French bread
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 1 c. shredded cheese
Instructions
- Brown meat with onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic, and pepper. Remove from heat and drain, then stir in sour cream.
- Cut French bread down the middle and butter. Broil in oven until golden brown.
- Turn oven to 375 degrees. Spread bread with meat mixture, then top with cheese. Bake until cheese is melted.
