Looking for an encouraging book about hospitality? A Life That Says Welcome by Karen Ehman is one I loved. Here’s my review!
My Review of A Life That Says Welcome by Karen Ehman
Occasionally, I want to post reviews of books that I have found helpful, so today I want to share a little bit about A Life That Says Welcome, by Karen Ehman. I discovered this book through the recommendation of one of my good friends and I love it!
I’ve read a lot of books that have some good content but aren’t really worth buying in my opinion. However, I feel like this book is worth every penny.
Karen starts the book by talking about the heart… because after all, hospitality is not about the size of your house or your gourmet food, it’s about having a heart for people.
She also shares examples from the Bible and talks about what God has to say about the importance of hospitality.
A Life That Says Welcome not only includes the “why” of hospitality but the “how” as well. Some of the topics included are:
- decorating on a budget
- cleaning
- being prepared for unexpected visitors
- making easy meals for lots of people
- being hospitable even if your home is tiny
- and more!

My favorite thing about the book is that it includes LOTS of practical suggestions, ideas and recipes. I felt inspired after reading it and I know it’s a book that I will go back to multiple times.
I definitely recommend checking out A Life That Says Welcome!
