Lucas was just born two months ago so my mind has been full of all things baby. (Read his birth story here!) Since he’s my third, I’ve kind of got everything figured out now. Ha. Just joking!!
But, I would say that I have a pretty good grasp of what I need and don’t need for him (and for me!)
When you’re a first time parent though, it’s pretty easy to be overwhelmed by all the lists out there of what you need to buy. Trust me, you don’t need all that stuff.
Anyway, I’m not here to share a list of essentials with you, though you can check out this article for a good list of the basics if you need it. Today I thought it would be fun to just share some of the things that I love, both my favorite baby items as well as some stuff for us moms too!

Favorite Baby Products
Muslin Blankets
IΒ much prefer muslin blankets over basic receiving blankets. They are super light and breathable and I love the larger size – perfect for swaddling!
We have four of the muslin blankets from Aden + Anais and I LOVE them! We got them when Caleb was born and four years (and two more babies) later they are still as good as new, probably even softer.
They are a bit pricey – and if you know me you know that I’m normally a total cheapskate – but the quality of these blankets makes them totally worth the price. They’re one of my very favorite baby products!
Burp cloths
Ok, so burp cloths may not be the most exciting baby product you’ll purchase but they’re definitely something that you’ll use, probably a lot. I was gifted some burp cloths similar to these ones and I love them. They’re soft, I love the larger size, and they come in lots of super cute patterns.
Zippered sleepers
Zippered sleepers are the best for those middle of the night diaper changes. When you’re half asleep you really don’t want to be dealing with re-fastening a bunch of snaps, trust me. I like cotton sleepers for the summer because they are lightweight and breathable, while still keeping baby warm enough for the night.
Boppy
I love my boppy nursing pillow, but I don’t actually use it for nursing! Each of my newborns has slept on the boppy a bit during the first week or two (don’t worry, they were always well supervised!)
My biggest use for the boppy is as a comfy reclining seat for the baby. I use it that way all the time right now for Lucas. It also makes a great pillow for tummy time/neck control, and then it also works great to place around them as they are learning to sit on their own.
So yeah, we get a lot of use out of our bobby, even though I don’t use it for nursing!
White noise machine
We finally broke down and bought a white noise machine after just using our ipad for a couple years. The noise machine is so convenient, I love it!
We purchased this inexpensive but highly rated white noise machineΒ and have been very pleased with it so far. I like that we can switch things up with several different nature sounds to choose from as well as the basic white noise. It’s one of those favorite baby products that I wonder why we didn’t buy sooner!
Favorite Products for Moms
Breast pads
If you’re nursing or pumping, breast pads are a must, especially at the beginning. I prefer washable ones and have been very pleased with these organic cotton breast pads.
Nursing cover
If you choose to use a nursing cover, IΒ highly recommend this nursing cover by Covered Goods. It’s great quality, super soft, and keeps everything covered beautifully. Plus, it can also work as a car seat cover and a shopping cart seat cover. It also makes a nice, soft blanket for baby when when you don’t have a regular blanket with you.
Chocolate
Yes, chocolate is definitely one of my favorite products for moms haha. Does someone want to buy me this bag of Dove chocolate? Please? π
Cute postpartum clothes
My body is always in an awkward stage for awhile after having a baby (and I’m sure I speak for about 95% of moms!) My maternity clothes don’t fit right but neither do my pre-pregnancy clothes. It’s a frustrating stage – and one that I am still smack-dab in the middle of right now, ha!
I like to buy a few items that fit well and are flattering for my body in this in-between time. Obviously not a whole wardrobe, just a few things to get me through this stage!
I especially love flowy shirts for postpartum. This workout shirt from Walmart is one of my favorites – it’s cute, inexpensive, amazingly comfy, and flattering on my stomach. I’m also eyeing this floral tunic top from Amazon. So cute and perfect looking for this stage.
Well, that’s my list! Now I’d love to hear from you – what are some of your favorites for yourself and/or your favorite baby products?

Great list! My son is 14 months old (he’s my first) and I love the Muslin blankets. In fact, we still use ours when he naps in his crib. They are so soft – I found them on Clearance at my local Target roughly 1 month before giving birth to him. I snatched up the few that they had left. LOL. The boppy was a great addition as well. I even took it to the hospital with me when I had him. It helped tremendously with breastfeeding.

Ooh yay for finding the blankets on clearance!! If I ever find some on clearance I’m definitely going to snatch them up (even if I don’t need more haha!)

Yes girl! I agree with all of your points! I didn’t discover muslin blankets until my son was a few months old and I felt like I was seriously missing out! White noise is something that I still use for my TODDLER that we started using when he was just a newborn. Keep it up, mama!

So many great suggestions! Muslin blankets are still my favorite for my growing cute crew! We use still use them on stroller walks. And I definitely underestimated the need for burp cloths with my first! haha!
