Quarantine . . . probably not a word we expected to be so familiar with at the beginning of this year, am I right? Wow life can change quickly!
Since many of us will still be at home for at least the next few weeks, today I’m sharing some of my favorite ways to lift your spirits and make life a bit happier during quarantine.

1. Get ready for the day as if you were going out
I’ll be honest – I don’t always do this – but I’m trying to more because it really does help me feel better about myself and about the day in general, even though I’m not actually going anywhere.
2. Keep a journal
A few journal ideas:
- Prayer journal
- Gratitude journal
- “What I know about God” journal
- Daily journal (aka diary)
3. Add something fun to your home decor
When you’re home all the time adding a little something new to your decor can make your home feel extra happy and fresh. It can be as simple as adding a bouquet of fresh flowers or popping some new covers on your couch pillows. (I ordered these pillow covers a few weeks ago and LOVE them!)
4. Buy some new pjs
I know I just told you to get dressed for the day, but when evening comes there’s nothing quite like a brand new pair of comfy pajamas. I bought these pajamas from Target recently and have been loving them – probably especially because they’re the first I’ve bought in years ha!
5. Read a just-for-fun book
Sometimes you just need a fun, easy read. Here are a few that I’ve enjoyed:
6. Clean up your kitchen every night
I’m working on this one and have been doing a bit better these last few weeks. Even if I don’t get to the rest of the house, if I can at least leave my kitchen clean I know that I’ll feel so much happier in the morning.
7. Take a walk outside by yourself
There’s nothing like fresh air and exercise to lift to your spirits! We’ve been doing a lot of family walks which have been so nice, but I’ve also really appreciated the times that I’ve been able to slip out to walk alone for a bit.
8. Play happy/encouraging music around the house
Nothing lifts your spirits quite like music. Turn on some happy, upbeat music and dance around the kitchen with your kids!
Along with all the fun music, be sure to fill your mind with songs that speak truth to your heart. Here are a few of my current favorites:
9. Stay connected through technology
Aren’t you thankful for technology? Quarantine even just 20 years ago would have looked so different. Now days it’s so easy to hop on Facetime or Zoom or Marco Polo, so take advantage of all of those things and stay connected to the people you love!
10. Make someone else’s day
When you’re feeling down, sometimes the best thing to do is to stop and do something for someone else. You just may find out that by making someone else’s day you’ve also brought a lot more happiness to your own.
Have your kids make cards for someone. Write a letter to your grandparents. Send a friend a gift card to use once the stores open back up again. Everyone loves getting some happy mail!
Those are some of my favorite ways to lift your spirits during quarantine. What would you add to this list? Let me know in the comments!
