Hey friends!
As I’ve mentioned before, my heart for this blog is that it would be a fun place of encouragement and help for other women and especially for other moms.
Today I thought I’d share a few articles for moms that have made an impact on me recently. I think you guys will love these and find them to be both encouraging and convicting.
So here we go:
To the Parents With Squirmy Children at Church
I’ve written before about when moms have to miss church. This short article tackles the other side of the coin – when you are able to make it to church but then feel discouraged because church services are just tough with kids!
I found this article to be a great encouragement to keep taking taking your kids to church even when you feel like no one is getting anything out of it.
You can never be quite sure at what age your child picks up on your dutiful attendance at worship. You never really know—unless they tell you—how much they are gleaning from the songs or the sermon. One thing is certain: children will not have the opportunity to learn how to worship if they never attend worship.
When Your Kids Won’t Bow to Your Idols
I had to include this article because it’s one that I personally need to go back to often. Read this quote:
Think of the times you get the most angry or frustrated with your child. More often than not, it’s not their behavior or attitude that is causing your emotional response – it’s the fact that one of your idols is being threatened. Trace your feelings back to the source. What’s in jeopardy? Your picture of how your child should behave? How they should interact with others? Your reputation? Your comfort? Sleep?? . . . Our reaction to our children’s behavior often has little to do with brokenness over their sin and a lot to do with how irritated we are that they are disrupting or threatening our own desires.
Convicting huh? Go read the rest – it’s an excellent article and a good reminder to constantly evaluate our hearts and motives as we train our kids.
Before You Were Mommy
This article was written by Becky Thompson a couple years ago and wow, I had a hard time choosing a quote because it’s all so good. Becky is an amazing writer and this article is a beautiful reminder that every mom and wife needs to read.
But Ladies, when Mommy becomes your name, remember this man. Remember that you are his wife. Remember how much you love and appreciate him in this moment. Remember his dedication to your family. Remember his love and devotion to you. And then, when the days are long and you need a break, fall into his arms.
How I Stopped Checking My Phone and Started Using It With Intention
So, this is not a “mom” article per se, but is something that a lot of us moms can benefit from, at least I know I can. Like I shared in my post earlier this month, it it SO easy for me to mindlessly check my phone all throughout my day and waste more time than I even realize. That’s not the kind of mom I want to be though!
Here’s a short quote from the article:
I recognized I had fallen into a dangerous loop and that my phone use —especially the time spent checking email and social media feeds — was out of hand. So I did something about it . . . What I came up with was a set of guidelines to ensure I used my phone with more intention.
I think that the guidelines laid out in this article are very practical and I’m working on implementing a lot – if not all – of them.
What about you?
Have you read something encouraging or convicting lately? Mom related or not, I’d love to read it! Written an article of your own? I’d love to check it out! Feel free to share in the comments. 🙂
If you enjoyed this article, don’t forget to share! <3
