Hi friends!
Four months ago I wrote a blog update (you can read it here) explaining a little of my vision for this blog going forward. I had decided that I wanted to commit to learning more about blogging and spending more time improving my blog instead of just sporadically blogging.
While I haven’t always been able to spend as much time as I’d like, I am happy to say that I have seen some progress in these last four months (even despite the holidays and our two week trip to Mexico!)
Today I thought I’d give you an update of my progress, and I plan to continue sharing blog updates every so often from now on. I know that I personally love reading how other bloggers are coming along and I hope that by posting my progress I can encourage someone else!

What I’ve Been Up To
- Blogging course
The first thing that I did when I decided to get serious about blogging back in October was to enroll in a blogging course. I chose Natalie’s blogging course from At Home With Natalie. I like Natalie’s course because one, it’s affordable, and two, it does a great job explaining all of the basic things you need to know to succeed as a blogger. I read through the whole course pretty quickly but still have a lot of work to do actually implementing it all. (So much to do, so little time!) My only regret is that I didn’t take Natalie’s course back when I first started blogging!
- Blog planner
Last month I purchased the Epic Blog planner to use this year… and I love it!! It’s made so you can start it at any time of the year and has so much helpful stuff in it. I love that it’s already printed and bound – I did not want the hassle (and expense) of printing a million pages to make my own blog planner – and it’s very affordable. I will probably take more time later and write a whole separate post about it, but suffice it to say I highly recommend it.
- Pinterest webinar
I attended a Pinterest webinar by Summer from Lady Boss League. I felt like I was in college again as I furiously scribbled notes for an hour during the kids’ naptime. Summer had tons of helpful pointers and I’m so excited to start applying everything I learned!
Blog Stats
My page view numbers are still very modest, but they have improved steadily since October which I’m very excited about! The total page views for last September was only 361; this January was 1,113.
My Facebook page grew from 140 likes at the beginning of October to 353 likes as of today.
I got back on my Twitter account that I’d opened forever ago and never used and am starting to figure it out. Feel free to follow me (and laugh at me) as I learn to navigate the world of tweets and hashtags. Haha. I feel old.
The blog’s top referrer is Facebook, followed by Yummly and Pinterest. If you’ve never heard of Yummly you can read my post about it here.
My three top posts for the last four months are Pot Roast in a Crock-Pot, Crock-Pot Drumsticks and Potatoes, and Lemon-Blueberry Bread, in that order.
Well, that’s everything I have to report for now I think. I’m so enjoying my little blog and I appreciate you taking the time to follow along. Every comment, like, and follow is so encouraging! 🙂
If you are a fellow blogger I would love to connect! Do you post blog updates? Feel free to link your most recent update in the comments below. Let’s encourage each other! 🙂
