These nut free chocolate chip and craisin granola bars make the perfect afternoon snack. You’ll love making and serving this easy recipe.
It feels like it’s been forever since I’ve shared a new recipe here on the blog, but I made some yummy homemade granola bars the other day and thought why not share the recipe on my blog?
I like making snacks at home whenever I can because it often saves money and let’s be honest, you can’t beat homemade!
My mom passed this easy homemade granola bar recipe on to me and I love it!
There are other recipes out there for no-bake granola bars but these bars are baked which I think gives them the best texture and makes them super yummy.
You could add all sorts of different mix-ins, including nuts if you like, but this is a nut-free granola bar recipe with just chocolate chips and craisins. Some of my kids don’t love the craisins, so sometimes I’ll just do chocolate chips, but I personally think the craisins add a lot to the overall flavor.
Be careful not to overbake your granola bars. Due I think to the oil in the bars, when the oven timer beeps the middle of the pan sometimes looks a bit shiny and not-quite-done but I’ve learned from experience that if you go longer than the set time they will end up over cooked and a bit dry and crumbly.
Send them in school lunches or serve them as great snacks any time of the day. Your whole family is sure to enjoy these yummy chocolate chip and craisin granola bars.
These granola bars are perfect for breakfast with coffee or for a quick after school snack. They definitely taste hardier (and tastier) than basic store-bought granola bars.

How to Make Chocolate Chip and Craisin Granola Bars
These granola bars are super easy to make!
Here are the simple ingredients you’ll need:
- Eggs
- Brown sugar
- Honey
- Oil (I just use canola or vegetable but I imagine that you could use coconut oil, though it would add a different flavor)
- Rolled oats (not quick oats)
- Flour (whole wheat or white)
- Cinnamon
- Salt
- Chocolate chips
- Craisins
Simply mix together your wet ingredients in a large bowl, then add the dry ingredients, and finally fold in the mix-ins (in this case chocolate chips and craisins!)
Other mix-in ideas include: white chocolate chips, nuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, or whatever your favorite add-ins might be.
Once everything is all mixed up, you’ll add it to your prepared pan and bake for approximately 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
I like using a glass baking dish that is slightly bigger than a 9×13 (I’m guessing it’s a 10×15 although I haven’t measured.) However, a 9×13 will work fine as well.
You could also half the recipe and bake it in a square baking pan.
These homemade granola bars will stay good on the counter at room temperature for up to a week (but you’ll probably have finished them all before that!)
