With the high grocery prices the past few years, many families are wondering: Is it even possible to feed a household for under $100 a week anymore? The good news is—yes, it is!
With careful planning and smart grocery shopping it’s definitely still possible to spend less than $100 a week at the grocery store.
But while possible, it’s not as easy as it used to be – and that’s why I’m here! Today I’m sharing a full week’s meal plan – including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even snacks – along with a complete grocery list that costs less than $100 at Walmart.

My Budget-Friendly Family Meal Plan
This meal plan will feed a family of four, at minimum. Here’s what’s on the menu!
Breakfast options
Oatmeal, eggs, toast, bananas, cereal
Lunch options
Leftovers, PB&J sandwiches, quesadillas / grilled cheese, snacky lunch (cheese, pepperonis, hard boiled eggs, crackers, apples), carrots
Snack options
Apples, cheese, pretzels, crackers and PB, homemade muffins
Dinners
1. Beans and rice bowls
Home-cooked black beans are so much better than the canned variety! Top your beans and brown rice with corn (and a little salsa if you’d like) for a delicious and wonderfully cheap meal.
2. Crispy chicken, bean, and rice burritos
This favorite recipe is a staple in our home, and it just takes two cups of chicken!
3. “Pizza pasta”
My whole family loves this easy one-pot meal made with colorful rotini pasta, pepperonis, mozzarella chunks, and grape tomatoes.
4. Chicken Tetrazzini/Spaghetti
This recipe is an easy, comfort-food sort of meal, perfect served with a side of veggies and French bread.
5. Creamed Chicken over rice or toast
Creamed chicken was a regular dish at our house growing up. Just make a simple white sauce, add your shredded chicken, and serve over rice or toast. We also had peas with this meal growing up, so that’s how I serve it now.
6. Taco quiche
Another family favorite growing up, this recipe is still one of my go-to ground beef recipes. There isn’t usually any left after dinner, but if there is I’ve been known to eat it in the morning for breakfast!
7. Leftovers
I always like to schedule a leftovers night because 1) I need a break from cooking, and 2) I don’t want to waste food!
