The older I get, the faster the years go by! Where did 2017 even go? I feel like I was just writing out my yearly goals and now all the sudden I’m doing it again for 2018!
The beginning of a new year is always exciting to me though (no matter how suddenly it seems to come ha!) I love new beginnings and fresh starts. The new year reminds me a little of the happy feeling I’d get in college when a new semester was beginning and I could start out fresh again.
So anyway, I’m excited for this year! But before I get to sharing some of my goals and plans for the year (I’m sure that will be another post soon) I want to take one more look back at last year. Consider this blog post my family’s Christmas letter of sorts. 🙂
We welcomed 2017 in Mexico where we had spent Christmas with Pablo’s family. We stayed there through the first week of the new year. It was a fun way to start the year and I’m glad that my kids got to enjoy lots of time with their abuelos.
In March, the abuelos came to visit us and we had a wonderful week with them here in Texas. That week was one of the highlights of our year. We had a great time showing them some of our favorite places in Dallas and the surrounding areas and the pace was much more relaxed since we were at our own home – yay for staycations!
Sofia turned 1 in May (my baby is growing up!!) and Caleb turned 3 in July. We enjoyed celebrating with my family for both of their birthdays.
In September Sofia and I got to take a trip all the way to Washington State to visit my sister, her husband, and their new little baby. We spent a week with them and had SUCH a wonderful time. I felt so blessed to be able to make the trip and so thankful to all the family who helped make it happen.
Pablo started a new job working sales for a State Farm insurance agent in October. When looking for a new job we both assumed that he’d end up with a long-ish commute to Dallas, but God provided a job right in our tiny town, literally like three minutes from where we live. We are so grateful!
I found out I was pregnant near the end of October! We were thrilled at the news, though maybe a little scared about being outnumbered come July. 😉
We stayed pretty busy the last few months of the year with various seasonal activities and gatherings, as well as mine and Pablo’s birthdays. 🙂 November and December were a bit rough for me as my “morning” sickness kicked in strong and made me pretty miserable for awhile. I’m super thankful for a kind husband who took the kids out multiple times when I needed rest and ordered take-out when I wasn’t well enough to cook.
As the new year begins Caleb is now 3 and 1/2. He has a huge imagination and loves dressing up, especially as a cowboy (generally Woody from Toy Story) or as a firefighter. He loves books (yay!) and we spend lots of time reading. He keeps us laughing everyday with the hilarious things he says. He also keeps us humble as we are reminded we have much to learn on this parenting journey. (Whew, 2 year olds have nothing on 3 year olds!)
Sofia is 20 months. She is quite the little talker already and surprises us all the time with the new things she can say. She loves her baby doll and is very mothering, even to Caleb which is adorable. She can also be quite dramatic which is pretty hilarious. We love how cuddly and loving she is and hope she doesn’t grow out of it for a long time!
Anyway, that’s our year in a nutshell. I hope you had a good 2017! Drop a comment below; I’d love to hear from you! Thanks as always for stopping by my blog. 🙂
