Did you know that Aldi offers curbside pickup now? Here’s my experience using it for the last few months and answers to some of your questions!

As you likely know if you’re a regular around here, I love to do my grocery shopping at ALDI. Their prices are fantastic (yay for saving money on groceries!) and their store-brand items are typically really good!
Another thing I love about ALDI is how small the store is. Grocery shopping there is relatively quick compared to bigger grocery stores and supermarkets (and with three kids I’m all about quick!)
But, even though grocery shopping is pretty quick at ALDI, some days it still feels really hard with my three kiddos. I’d love to tell you that they’re always perfect little angels while we shop but alas, they are normal human children. Ha!
So, a couple months ago I decided to try ALDI’s curbside pickup for the first time. I was quickly hooked!
Here is how to use ALDI curbside pickup if you never have before.
How does ALDI curbside pickup work?
ALDI partners with Instacart, so to order your groceries all you need to do is get on Instacart’s website or their app, select ALDI, and then place your order. (This goes even quicker the second time because it saves your previous shopping list in case you need some of the same items.)
When the time comes to go pick up your groceries, all you have to do is get on the app and let them know you’re on your way.
Upon arriving at the store, just pull up in one of the curbside pickup spots (they are clearly marked) and your groceries will be brought out and loaded into your car for you! SO NICE.

Do you need to tip the shopper who brings the groceries out to your car?
No. ALDI’s website confirms this: “Curbside shoppers do not accept tips. We prefer to pass these savings to you for your next order!”
Do you have to wait a long time for your groceries?
No! I’ve almost always had great experiences at ALDI with very little wait time. Sometimes the shopper is even out on the curb waiting for me to pull up.
There was only one time that they were seemingly short-staffed and asked me to come inside to collect my groceries. That was a little frustrating because I had all my kids with me (some without shoes.) From what I understand though, that was not really supposed to happen and Instacart gave me a $5 credit to my account.
What happens if the Instacart shopper makes a mistake?
My second grocery order had one problem. The shopper mistakenly got me two cans of pumpkin pie mix instead of the cans of yams that I had requested. I let Instacart know and they credited my account for the yams. So I essentially got two free cans of pumpkin pie mix.
I was frustrated because I didn’t want to have to make another trip to the store later, but in the big scheme of things it wasn’t a big deal, and I was pleased with how Instacart quickly refunded me.
I should also mention that I was worried in the beginning about having someone else pick out my produce for me. However, I’ve always been pleased with the quality of the produce I’ve ordered.
Is there a fee to use ALDI curbside pickup?
ALDI generally charges a fee of $1.99 (at least in my area) for using their curbside pickup service. That price is super reasonable considering that someone else is doing all your shopping for you! I also find that I likely save at least that much anyway by not shopping myself and being tempted to buy stuff I don’t need.

Despite a couple little hiccups, ALDI curbside pickup has been so helpful for me. I love being able to order groceries from the convenience of my own home and pick them up at a pre-selected time. Our little ten minute drive to the store gives the kids and I a nice little “outing” without actually getting out of the car. (Yes, I realize that makes me sound so lazy, but I’m sure some of you other moms understand!)
So tell me, have you tried out ALDI’s curbside pickup service yet? Has it changed your life? Haha. Let me know in the comments!
