Trying to spend less money on groceries? Check out this meal plan for four on a $60 weekly grocery budget.

Happy Monday! It’s time for another grocery budget / meal planning post!!
In my last three grocery posts (see them all here!) I was operating on a $50 weekly grocery budget. For this post I decided to share a $60 weekly grocery budget instead because well, I was feeling a little lazy and those 10 extra dollars definitely made it easier. 😉
I think that a $60 weekly grocery budget is both frugal and doable for a family of four. (Well, five for us, but Lucas isn’t contributing too much to our food bill yet haha.)
I included some of our favorite easy meals in this week’s menu. I left one day for leftovers because two of the recipes I included always give us enough for at least two meals. If you’re looking for a low carb menu some of this week’s recipes probably won’t work for you, but you can check out the low-carb week I shared here!
$60 Weekly Grocery Budget – Menu
A couple things to note:
To simplify my meal planning, I mainly plan for dinners and just keep some basic items on hand for breakfasts and lunches. (For help with your meal planning/grocery shopping, check out this post and snag my free grocery list printable!)
I put an asterisk by items that we already had in the pantry or freezer. Obviously if you are starting completely from scratch you would have to spend a bit more than $60 to buy some of the basics.
Breakfast options:
Cheerios, *Oatmeal, Eggs, Strawberries, Pop-Tarts
Lunch options:
Leftovers, *Salad with shredded rotisserie chicken, wraps, *PB & J sandwiches
Snack options: Pretzels, Cheese sticks, *Apples, Oranges
Dinners:
- Taco Soup
- Beef Stroganoff Sandwiches, carrots
- Rotisserie Chicken, peas (I shred the remaining chicken for tostadas the following night and for lunch salads!)
- Tostadas
- Million Dollar Spaghetti, salad (I divide this recipe into two 8×8 dishes. One goes in the freezer for later and the other makes us two meals!)
- Homemade Pizza, carrots and/or salad (I use this super simple recipe for the pizza dough!)
- Leftovers

I also highly recommend this ebook from Crystal Paine at MoneySavingMom.com. It shares 25 simple and effective ways to cut your grocery bill and I found it very helpful. I’m an affiliate for Crystal’s products because they are always well done and worth what she charges (which I can’t say for a lot of ebooks and courses out there!)

Love this post…I haven’t done much Aldi shopping but you’ve inspired me to do so! My favorite cheap meal to throw together for my family are sheet pan meals with chicken & veggies! It’s normally the way I clean out what veggies are on hand in the fridge & we normally always have chicken on hand! My favorite combo is chicken thighs, potatoes, onions, carrots & green beans!
Ooh that makes me want to do a good sheet pan meal soon. I have one I love to do with sausage but I’m not sure if I’ve even ever done one with chicken. Definitely on my to-make-soon list now! Also, yes you need to try Aldi, it saves me so much money!
Amazing I am Aldi’s shopper…you are the first that I have found ( have looked to hard) that uses Aldi’s …I am so excited… Single income and desperately searching for ways to get back on track with my budget..not only is it a great budget savings… But THANKS for the list and menu that will also get me out of the huge rut we have been with meals.
I work overnight shifts so I leave breakfast and sometimes lunch up to the kids ( Jr High age) to fend for… Now I feel like I can post it make some a head of time and know they are eating healthier than hot pockets and pizza bites.
I am sorry comment but I feel like I can do this ..feed my daughter’s healthy meals, save a ton of money and enjoy meal planning again and may e even shopping too.
I’m so glad this post was helpful!! I’m definitely a big Aldi fan!
I’m a huge fan of breakfast for dinner. I work two jobs and I make dinner sometimes way later than anyone should be
eating. Fritattas are a go to and another favorite is scrambled eggs with fine egg noodles that are buttered. Scrambled eggs and chopped deli ham is another good late night meal.
What is the recipe for the taco soup? Thank you
Here you go! 🙂 https://www.thetexmexmom.com/2017/03/30/chicken-taco-soup/
If someone doesn’t have Aldi near them, (I am one of those unfortunate souls) is there another store you would recommend? I like these ideas and my husband and I currently go over my planned budget every single paycheck on groceries. Looking at your meal plans, we could easily do these meals, just curious if there is somewhere else you would recommend. Or what type of store is Aldi’s so that I can maybe find something similar in Utah?
Hmmm do you have Kroger in Utah? I know that Crystal at moneysavingmom.com shops there at lot and she never spends more than $70 a week on her family of five. I know she takes advantages of their sales and coupons and such. Besides that I’m not sure. I know I’m blessed to have Aldi here!
I am pleased you did so well on a $60 budget. I will need to go down to a $60 budget soon for food and sundries, minus other occasional spending. Thank you for the helpful tips!
